Level 2 Swimming Teacher (Casual)

​

Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby are looking to recruit an experienced, friendly and passionate Level 2 Swimming Teacher to deliver swimming lessons to an exceptionally high standard in line with Swim England Learn to Swim programme and school swimming policy.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver swimming lessons to a variety of different ability groups in a safe, sensitive and fun manner.

  • Plan and prepare a range of swimming lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans.

  • To establish and maintain excellent relationships with all pupils and parents / guardians giving information and feedback on performance when required.

  • To communicate with all colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of the teaching programme.

  • To record information and maintain records on attendance, performance and progress of all swimmers.

  • To be responsible for the setting up, clearing away and the correct use of equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations and operating procedures.

  • Regularly assess participants’ abilities and progress and encourage them to reach their full potential, correct faults in swimming techniques, identify ways to improve performance and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates

  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.

  • To attend Swimming Teacher meetings and regular RLSS NPLQ staff training sessions.

  • To provide cover as necessary in the absence of staff.

  • To maintain and wear uniform in a smart manner.

  • Experience of teaching a range of ages and abilities

  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards all aspects of swimming.

  • Good communicator.

  • Resourceful and able to work on own initiative.

  • Able to remain calm under pressure.

  • Willingness to work flexibly.

  • Ability to adapt to change.

  • Caring and kind especially in relation to children.

 

Essential qualifications

  • Swim England (ASA) Level 2 Teaching Aquatics or equivalent.

  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches.

 

Desirable qualifications

  • Water Fitness Instructor.

Experience

  • Proven Swim Teaching/coaching experience.

  • Understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

  • Experience in delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim programme and framework.

 

Training

IOS Continual Professional Development Units.

 

Salary

Rate of pay £14.75 per hour.

 

Staff are appointed on a self-employed casual basis and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.
