RLSS Lifeguard (Casual)

 

Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby is looking to recruit an experienced, friendly and professional Lifeguard who will responsible for the safety of swimmers in the swimming pool. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To monitor the behaviour of swimmers during all sessions, enforcing where necessary the safety regulations appertaining to the swimming pool and ancillary facilities.

  • Report and record incidents and accidents to the Pool Managers.

  • Provide first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administrating Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration, if necessary.

  • Ensure any first aid equipment/supplies are replaced in first aid boxes - notify Pool Managers of what has been used to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.

  • Assessing conditions for safety and coming up with an action plan for aquatics emergency.

  • Inspecting pool equipment, facilities and water to make sure they are usable and safe

  • Assisting in cleaning equipment and facilities

  • Attend monthly staff training sessions to ensure you maintain your required hours to maintain your qualification.

Essential qualifications​

  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

Experience​

  • Understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

Salary

Rate of pay: £10.50 for Lifeguards under 21 years old. £11.50 for Lifeguards over 21 years old.

 

Staff are appointed on a self-employed casual basis and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business. Whilst the initial position will be on a cover basis, there is the potential of moving on to permanent, weekly hours both as a Lifeguard and Duty Manager with additional training given.

Level 2 Swimming Teacher (Casual)

 

Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby are looking to recruit an experienced, friendly and passionate Level 2 Swimming Teacher to deliver swimming lessons to an exceptionally high standard in line with Swim England Learn to Swim programme and school swimming policy.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver swimming lessons to a variety of different ability groups in a safe, sensitive and fun manner.

  • Plan and prepare a range of swimming lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans.

  • To establish and maintain excellent relationships with all pupils and parents / guardians giving information and feedback on performance when required.

  • To communicate with all colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of the teaching programme.

  • To record information and maintain records on attendance, performance and progress of all swimmers.

  • To be responsible for the setting up, clearing away and the correct use of equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations and operating procedures.

  • Regularly assess participants’ abilities and progress and encourage them to reach their full potential, correct faults in swimming techniques, identify ways to improve performance and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates

  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.

  • To attend Swimming Teacher meetings and regular RLSS NPLQ staff training sessions.

  • To provide cover as necessary in the absence of staff.

  • To maintain and wear uniform in a smart manner.

Essential qualifications​

  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches.

Experience

  • Proven Swim Teaching/coaching experience.

  • Understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

  • Experience in delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim programme and framework.

 

Training

IOS Continual Professional Development Units.

 

Salary

Rate of pay £15.75 per hour for all Swimming Teachers.

 

Staff are appointed on a self-employed casual basis and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.
