Level 2 Swimming Teacher (Casual)

           

Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby are looking to recruit an experienced, friendly and passionate Level 2 Swimming Teacher to deliver swimming lessons to an exceptionally high standard in line with Swim England Learn to Swim programme and school swimming policy.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Deliver swimming lessons to a variety of different ability groups in a safe, sensitive and fun manner.

  • Plan and prepare a range of swimming lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans.

  • To establish and maintain excellent relationships with all pupils and parents / guardians giving information and feedback on performance when required.

  • To communicate with all colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of the teaching programme.

  • To record information and maintain records on attendance, performance and progress of all swimmers.

  • To be responsible for the setting up, clearing away and the correct use of equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations and operating procedures.

  • Regularly assess participants’ abilities and progress and encourage them to reach their full potential, correct faults in swimming techniques, identify ways to improve performance and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates

  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.

  • To attend Swimming Teacher meetings and regular RLSS NPLQ staff training sessions.

  • To provide cover as necessary in the absence of staff.

  • To maintain and wear uniform in a smart manner.

Essential qualifications

  • Swim England (ASA) Level 2 Teaching Aquatics or equivalent.

  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches.

 

Desirable qualifications

  • Water Fitness Instructor.

 

Experience

  • Proven swim teaching/coaching experience.

  • Understanding of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

  • Experience in delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim programme and framework.

 

Training

IOS Continual Professional Development Units.

 

Salary

Rate of pay £14.75 per hour.

 

Hours of work

Starting September - Beginning with 4 hours of school swimming per week Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (term time only) with a possibility of up to 10 hours consisting of group and individual children’s swimming lessons after school and Saturday mornings.

 

Staff are appointed on a self-employed casual basis and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.

Assistant Pool Manager (Casual)

 

Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby are looking to recruit an experienced, friendly and passionate Assistant Pool Manager to be responsible for the management and operations of the pool and the Health and Safety of all customers attending the facility.

Duties and responsibilities

Health and Safety

  • To be aware of and adopt Health and Safety measures within and around the pool building and take responsibility for the safe oversight of all users of the swimming pool.

  • To have a thorough knowledge of and follow the pools NOP (Normal Operating Procedure) and EAP (Emergency Action Plan) and ensure that they are implemented.

  • Be fully trained in the operation of the swimming pool including testing for water purification.

  • Complete and maintain records of relevant daily checklists.

  • To monitor, co-ordinate and oversee the performance of staff.

  • Competently assist Lifeguard in an emergency and administer first aid.

  • Regularly attend staff training.

 

Office duties

  • When on duty to be responsible for collecting payment and recording of transactions including cashing up.

  • Ensure contact details of swimmers and attendance figures are recorded accurately.

  • Answer telephone calls and take bookings.

  • Any other such duties that may be allocated by the Pool Manager.

  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility including pool hall, foyer and changing rooms.

  • To provide Lifeguard and office cover as necessary in the absence of staff.

 

Health & Safety at Work

As a senior member of staff, you will be responsible for the safety and welfare of any staff under your direct control, and you must therefore have knowledge of the companies Health & Safety Policy and relevant instructions to your area of work. Any matter which you consider requires attention in this respect is your responsibility to report following the correct procedures. Copies of the current Health & Safety Policy and Safety procedures are available at the pool.

 

 

Essential qualifications

  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

 

Desirable qualifications

  • RLSS National Pool Plant Operators or equivalent (training can be provided).

 

The successful candidate should ideally have previous knowledge of the swimming industry and a good level of experience of working in a busy facility. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and a total commitment to customer service are essential. Successful applicants will be provided with full training in all aspects of this role.

 

Salary

Rate of pay £10.50 per hour.

 

Hours of work

Starting September, Saturdays 1pm - 5.30pm (4.5 hours). 

 

Staff are appointed on a self-employed casual basis and flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business.
