Latest News and Updates
COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES
POST 19th JULY 2021.
Update following latest Government guidance regarding Covid-19 restrictions
Swimming at Lune Valley Swimming Pool in Hornby - Summer 2021
Following the updated guidance from Government regarding Covid-19 precautions, the Trustees and staff have carefully considered how we will operate the pool in the current Covid-19 situation. We feel that with infection rates so high, we should continue to take a cautious approach for the time being.
In order to continue to ensure the safety of our swimmers and staff and to give as many people as possible the opportunity to swim, we will be continuing with our Covid-19 precautions:
Please do not come to the pool if you are experiencing any of the Covid-19 symptoms
Increased chlorine level of the pool water in line with recommendations from Swim England
Continuing to check the pool water at regular intervals to ensure it is in optimal condition
Disinfecting all areas after every session, with special attention to touch areas such as doors etc
Creating breaks between sessions to allow people to leave the building and for us to clean through
Limiting the number of people in the pool/changing rooms per session
Swimmers should book their session in advance either by visiting our online booking page on the website www.lunevalleypool.com/online-booking emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (01524) 805666
To maximise swim time and reduce time in building:
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your session starts
Where possible arrive beach ready - shower at home, costumes on under top clothes
Where possible dry, dress and leave promptly and shower at home after your session
Please allow enough time to leave the pool and be changed by the end of your session time.
On arriving at the pool, please wear a face covering, sanitise your hands and report to reception. (Face coverings should not be worn in the pool)
Please maintain 2m social distancing wherever possible both outside and inside the building and pool
We will be encouraging payment by card or bank transfer, but will be able to take cash if necessary
CHANGE: Swim instructors will teach in the water for non-swimmers when necessary
CHANGE: in addition to our half pool family bookings, we will also run an open family swim where multiple family bookings will be available in the whole pool
No spectating poolside - parents/guardians will be asked to wait in foyer/car
We hope that you feel reassured that we are making your swimming experience at Lune Valley Swimming Pool as safe as possible and we really appreciate your understanding as to why we have to implement these measures during these testing times. Our procedures will be under constant review, to ensure we continue to follow guidance and that we continue to offer a pleasant experience for our swimmers.
If you have any concerns/queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to seeing you back in the pool.

Many thanks for your ongoing support.
We have been awarded a significant grant of almost £30,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund. This will assist us in alleviating the additional costs associated with both the shutdown period and the subsequent running of the pool under the current Covid-19 restrictions designed to ensure your comfort and safety.
We will also use the National Lottery Community Fund grant to offer subsidised family swimming opportunities for the local community. We are planning to work with local GP surgeries to offer subsidised rehabilitation and remedial swimming opportunities to the local community. In addition this grant will allow us to replace the ageing boiler and install CCTV in the reception and office/admin areas. areas.
We are happy to report that as we celebrate our 2nd anniversary of re-opening of the pool it continues to be extremely well supported by the local community. Despite the necessary Covid 19 restrictions the response has been very encouraging. Thank you so much to all our supporters, staff pledgers and community volunteers.
This is all very good news at what has been a turbulent time. At the end of 2019 there was an existential threat from accrued debts and operating losses but the combination of this grant and efforts by our team to reduce operating losses means that we can now say with some confidence that the immediate future of the pool is guaranteed. While there is no room for complacency, we can look to continue to provide our customers with a safe environment for leisure and exercise and maintain local employment opportunities.
We hope you will come along and swim with us in the near future. Don’t forget to book in advance because numbers are limited and some sessions are now over-subscribed.. Above all enjoy your pool!
Phil Mugford, Chair LVCS.
